Casper, the Poltergeist

Here is another tale of the supernatural for Halloween:

Mermaid and I got acquainted with “Casper” when we moved into an 850 sq ft, 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment with his younger brothers.  I am not sure if my brothers-in-law ever experienced anything out of the ordinary, but my Mermaid and I sure did.

I was the first one to encounter the ghost my spouse and I jokingly named, “Casper.”

It was in the middle of the day.  I was laying in bed, playing Tetris on my phone when I heard the toilet in the master bedroom flush.  I thought, “That’s weird.  I’ve been lazying around for an hour, when did Mr. Mermaid go into the bathroom?”

“My Honey?” I shouted out.  No answer.

No one came out.  Strange, I thought.  What is he still doing in the bathroom?  And then I felt a chill and the hair on my body stood up.  I quickly closed my eyes and pretended to sleep.  I felt a presence in my bedroom.  My body was trembling with fear as I sensed its eyes on me.

What am I going to do? I thought to myself.  I can’t stay like this until this thing leaves.  What if it doesn’t leave?

I gathered all my courage and ran out the bedroom.  I was so relieved to see Mermaid on the couch watching TV.  I told him what happened.  He didn’t believe me, but he would start soon enough…
